The vile kitten-mouse
Kyle Rittenhouse
weeps on the stand
and goes free.
We now understand
that George Floyd, had he wept
under Derek Chauvin’s knee,
would’ve slept
in his own bed last night.
Oh, right.
About the Poem
This poem was written the day after the Rittenhouse verdict. As a friend said to me: “This news. I have not even had words.”

Thank you, Cody Walker for this wry poem about a tragedy of lack of justice. You got it exactly right.
