About the Poem

What has Canada in common with Gwyneth Paltrow? In this piece, I contemplate the nation’s July 1 holiday formerly known as Dominion Day. This amicable divorce (or conscious uncoupling, as Paltrow would say) required cooperation with the British parliament. Rather different from the dramatic events commemorated on July 4 in the United States
